April Mazza is a Consultant at the Massachusetts Library System, a state supported nonprofit organization. As a Consultant she works to support libraries of all types across the state, with a focus on school and youth services. In her role she teaches workshops, plans professional development opportunities including the annual Teen Summit, and advises libraries on such topics as summer library programming, collection development, space planning, and strategic planning. She has previously worked in public, school and special library settings and has reviewed youth materials for School Library Journal, Kirkus, Booklist and Horn Book Guide. She has been a board member and president of the New England Roundtable of Teen and Children’s Librarians, a division of NELA, and active in other local and national library associations. She has served on the 2012 Sibert Information Book Medal committee and the 2017 Newbery Medal committee and was a participant in the inaugural session of the 2008 Bill Morris Seminar Book Evaluation Training.
